Pack 358 has activities running year-round. You can become a scout at anytime. Just send us a note or join us for one of our meetings.
If you're ready to join now, simply fill out a BSA and Pack application to get started. It only takes a few minutes and we will contact you shortly.
Pack Meetings are held once a month, typically the last Wednesday of the month.
Den Meetings (a grouping of all scouts in a single grade) typically meet 1-2 times a month and when there are specific outings.
Family events are also typically once a month and in addition to the pack or den meetings. Family events include the Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, community service days, camping, etc.
On a light month, you may have 2 scout meetings, and on a busier month it might be 4 meetings.
To verify meeting times and activities, please check the Pack calendar on Scoutbook.
We understand. Many of our Scouts participate in multiple activities including sports, church, after-school programs, and more. If you can’t make it to a den meeting, that's OK! The den leader will let you know what was missed so that you may work on the skills/achievements on your own. A Scout only needs an Akela to complete requirements. In Cub Scouts, Akela is anyone who acts as a leader to a Scout.. Cubmaster, Den Leader, parent, teacher, coach, etc.
We follow the school year for Lovejoy ISD. Our year-round program runs from September to August. We begin with recruiting and Join Scouting in September and we graduate our Cub Scouts to the next rank in April. We have end of year celebrations in May followed by summer camps in June. July and August are our quietest months and depend on the individual dens to meet. The Pack will only meet once a month, not including extra curricular activities (e.g., Pinewood Derby, Camping, etc.).
Yes. The Cub Scout uniform is an important part of being a Cub Scout. Wearing it lets people know that the wearer is part of BSA in addition to their den and pack! The official uniform should be worn to den meetings, pack meetings, and any special Scouting activities. When you wear the full Cub Scout uniform, it shows you are a member of the team.
The official BSA uniform is the Class A uniform. This is the formal uniform that everyone has come to know and expect from the BSA. However, most packs/troops have also adopted a Class B uniform, which is (typically) a pack/troop t-shirt that is worn for informal occasions like community service days, camping, or other informal events. At Pack 358, the Class A uniform is purchased separately by the family at the local scout shop; the Class B uniform is provided by the pack.
Please visit our Cost of Scouting page for more information.
We don’t require fundraising however it is highly encouraged. Fund raising is the Pack's biggest source of funding for the year besides annual dues. If a family choses not to participate in fund raising, a donation of $25 per scout is requested to help offset the anticipated income from fund raising.
